Most men don’t come in saying they think their testosterone is low.
They come in saying they’re exhausted no matter how much they sleep. That they’ve lost 20 pounds of muscle over the past few years without changing anything. That they feel disconnected, irritable, and flat in a way they can’t explain to their wives or themselves. That their drive, in every sense of the word, has quietly disappeared.
Low testosterone does not announce itself. It erodes.
At South Beach Wellness Center, Maribel Dixon, MSN, APRN FNP-C offers personalized testosterone replacement therapy for men and women in Wesley Chapel, Land O’ Lakes, Lutz, New Tampa, and surrounding communities. She is an Advanced BHRT Certified provider through WorldLink Medical and a certified EvexiPEL pellet therapy provider. Your protocol is built from your labs and your symptoms, not from a standard dose handed to everyone who walks through the door.

Testosterone replacement therapy restores testosterone to levels that support normal physiological function. In men, testosterone is the primary androgen responsible for muscle mass, bone density, fat distribution, red blood cell production, sex drive, mood, cognitive function, and energy.
Testosterone levels peak in early adulthood and decline at roughly one to two percent per year beginning in a man’s 30s. By the mid-40s, many men are measurably below optimal range. By the 50s, the symptoms are often impossible to ignore.
Low testosterone, clinically called hypogonadism, is not just a normal part of aging to accept. It is a treatable hormonal condition with well-established therapy options and a strong body of clinical research behind them.
TRT does not work the same way for every man because low testosterone does not look the same in every man. Maribel orders a comprehensive panel before recommending any protocol. That panel includes total testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, SHBG, LH, FSH, and a complete metabolic panel. The numbers guide the protocol. The symptoms confirm it.
Men in the Wesley Chapel and Lutz area often carry these symptoms for years before connecting them to testosterone. Some have been told it is stress, depression, or just getting older.
Low testosterone is closely linked to depression, irritability, and emotional flatness. Men who have always been even-keeled find themselves short-tempered. Men who have always been motivated find themselves indifferent. These are not personality changes. They are symptoms.
Testosterone is the primary driver of muscle protein synthesis. When it drops, maintaining or building muscle becomes significantly harder even with consistent training. Men notice that the same workouts produce less result and that recovery takes longer.
Testosterone plays a direct role in cognitive function including focus, verbal memory, and processing speed. Men with low T frequently report difficulty concentrating, slower thinking, and a general mental sluggishness that affects their performance at work and at home.
Testosterone is the primary driver of sexual desire in men. Its decline consistently reduces libido, affects arousal, and contributes to erectile dysfunction. This is one of the most underreported symptoms because men are reluctant to raise it, but it is one of the most responsive to treatment.
Not regular tiredness. The kind that sleep does not fix. Men with low testosterone consistently report a flatness to their energy, an inability to generate the drive or stamina they used to have, even with adequate rest and a healthy lifestyle.
Low testosterone shifts fat distribution toward the midsection and makes fat loss harder regardless of diet and exercise. The relationship between testosterone and insulin sensitivity means that low T and metabolic dysfunction often compound each other.
Low testosterone disrupts sleep architecture, making deep and restorative sleep harder to achieve and maintain. Sleep deprivation then further suppresses testosterone production, creating a cycle that compounds over time.
Testosterone contributes to bone mineral density in men. Long-term low T increases the risk of osteoporosis and stress fractures, a risk that is often overlooked in men because bone density is more commonly associated with women's health.
Maribel offers multiple testosterone delivery methods. The right choice depends on your lifestyle, your labs, your preferences, and your protocol goals.
Maribel is among a small number of certified EvexiPEL providers in the Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes corridor. For full details on how pellet therapy works, visit our Hormone Replacement Therapy page.
Testosterone is not exclusively a male hormone. Women produce it in smaller amounts through the ovaries and adrenal glands, and it plays a meaningful role in female health including sexual drive, muscle tone, bone density, mood, and cognitive function.
Testosterone in women declines with age and drops significantly during perimenopause, menopause, and after oophorectomy. The result is often low libido, fatigue, difficulty building or maintaining muscle, Mental fog, and a general loss of vitality that does not fully resolve with estrogen and progesterone therapy alone.
Many women who are already in a hormone therapy protocol and not getting complete symptom relief are actually dealing with low testosterone that has not been addressed.
At South Beach Wellness Center, Maribel includes testosterone assessment as part of every comprehensive hormone panel for women. When low testosterone is part of the picture, it is treated as part of the protocol, at much lower doses than male TRT but following the same principle of individualized, lab-guided therapy.
EvexiPEL pellets are available for women and are one of the most precise delivery methods for the lower testosterone doses appropriate for female physiology.
Women experiencing low libido, persistent fatigue despite estrogen and progesterone optimization, difficulty maintaining muscle mass, or mood flatness that does not resolve with standard BHRT should ask Maribel to include a full testosterone assessment at their next visit. Testosterone creams or gels applied to the skin daily. Absorption varies between patients and requires attention to transfer risk if you have close contact with women or children. For some patients topical delivery is a practical fit. For others the daily requirement and transfer risk make another method preferable. Pricing discussed at consultation.
Your first visit is a $185 consultation and comprehensive lab draw. Maribel reviews your symptom history, health background, current medications, and any prior hormone testing you have had.
Once labs are back, she walks you through your results and presents a protocol recommendation. If pellet therapy is the right fit, the insertion procedure is scheduled and completed here in the office in under 30 minutes. If the injection program is the better match, she walks you through the protocol, trains you on self-administration if preferred, and starts your monthly membership.
Follow-up labs and visits are included in your monthly TRT program. Ongoing monitoring is built into the protocol throughout therapy, not treated as an optional add-on.
In-person appointments are available at our office just north of Tampa Premium Outlets in Lutz. Virtual consultations are available for Florida residents.
Men come to South Beach Wellness Center from Zephyrhills, New Tampa, Trinity, Odessa, and Dade City because finding a provider in this corridor who actually runs a comprehensive hormone panel, interprets it beyond a basic normal range, holds advanced certification in hormone therapy, and bundles labs and follow-up into a transparent monthly price is not easy.
Most TRT clinics bill the consultation, the labs, the medication, and every follow-up visit separately. The number adds up fast and the billing becomes a source of friction that makes patients skip monitoring appointments. Our $150 monthly program removes that friction entirely. You know the number going in and it does not change.
Maribel holds Advanced BHRT certification through WorldLink Medical and is EvexiPEL certified. She takes the time at your appointment to explain what your labs mean and what your options are before you commit to anything.
If you have had a testosterone test elsewhere and been told your levels are normal while still experiencing every symptom on this page, know that normal range and optimal function are not the same number. A total testosterone of 310 ng/dL falls within the standard lab reference range. It is not a level at which most men feel or perform well.

How do I know if my testosterone is low?
The only way to confirm it is bloodwork. Symptoms alone are suggestive but not diagnostic. Maribel orders a comprehensive panel that goes beyond total testosterone to include free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, and other markers that give a complete picture of your hormonal environment.
What testosterone level is considered low?
Standard lab reference ranges typically flag anything below 300 ng/dL as low. Functionally, many men experience significant symptoms at levels between 300 and 450 ng/dL. Maribel interprets your results in the context of your symptoms, not just against a population average.
What is included in the $150 monthly TRT program?
Everything. Your follow-up visits, ongoing lab monitoring, and testosterone medication are all covered under the monthly fee. The only separate cost is the $185 initial consultation before you start. After that, your monthly cost is fixed.
How does the pellet cost compare to the monthly injection program?
At $750 per insertion lasting five to six months, pellet therapy runs approximately $125 to $150 per month, comparable to the injection program. The difference is administration. Pellets require one in-office procedure every five to six months. Injections require weekly or biweekly administration. The right choice depends on your preference and lifestyle.
Is TRT safe?
TRT has a well-established safety profile when properly prescribed and monitored. Maribel monitors your labs throughout therapy including hematocrit, estradiol, and PSA where appropriate. Like any hormone therapy, TRT is not appropriate for every patient. Men with certain prostate conditions, cardiovascular risk factors, or fertility goals require specific consideration before starting.
Will TRT affect my fertility?
Exogenous testosterone can suppress the body’s own testosterone production and reduce sperm count. Men who are actively trying to conceive should discuss this with Maribel before starting TRT. There are alternative protocols designed to raise testosterone while preserving fertility.
How long before I feel results?
Most men notice initial improvements in energy and mood within three to four weeks. Libido changes typically follow within four to six weeks. Body composition changes take longer, usually two to four months of consistent therapy. Full optimization can take four to six months as levels stabilize.
Do you offer TRT for women?
Yes. Testosterone therapy for women at appropriate female doses is part of our hormone optimization approach. See the section above or schedule a consultation to discuss your specific situation.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes. Initial and follow-up consultations are available via telehealth for Florida residents. Lab work can be ordered to a draw site near you.
Initial consultation is $185. Monthly TRT program is $150 all-inclusive. EvexiPEL pellet therapy is $750 per insertion.
